The Estuary is fortunate to have a new Social Worker on staff. We hope you will stop by and meet her and find out all the ways she might be a resource for you.
Hello! My name is Melissa. I have been working in the Social Work field since 2011. I received my bachelor’s degree from Southern Connecticut State University and my master’s degree from Fordham University. I also have my LMSW (license masters in social work). After graduation I worked in a non profit for almost 7 years. I have experience facilitating groups, meeting with individuals one on one and working with individuals and their families. Since then I have been staying home with my children who are now 4 and 7 years old and in school full time.
I’m excited to meet everyone at the Estuary and looking forward to getting to know you all. If you are feeling isolated or struggling with anxiety or depression I would love to meet with you to assist you in figuring out how we best can help you manage. If you are finding it difficult to navigate the challenges of the aging process or need help applying for assistance programs I can assist you with that. Also, if you are concerned about a loved one or friend who you feel could benefit from some assistance please feel free to reach out.
In the upcoming weeks I will also start two different groups that will be available on a bi weekly basis. The first will be a bereavement group and the second will be a group for those who do not have any outside support (elder orphans group). If you are struggling with the loss of a spouse or other family member please join us in the bereavement group. Also if you are feeling alone due to lack of family support please join us.
I look forward to meeting you all and being of assistance!
