The Bridging the Gap virtual fundraiser will be held on Sept 8 through 12 at 6:30pm each night.
Guided Meditation Workshop
Mindfulness is the practice of bringing one's attention to the internal and external experiences
occurring in the present moment. Evidence supports the use of mindfulness programs to alleviate
symptoms of a variety of mental and physical disorders. Mindfulness meditation has been connected
to favorable structural changes in the brain, including prevention or delay in the onset of
dementia. It is also a great way to increase focus, decrease stress, and stimulate your
creativity.
David Chandler is the founder and director of Eagle's Quest Tai Chi Center. No previous experience
is needed for this workshop. Participants will learn about different types of meditation
practices and will be guided through a mindfulness meditation. There will be time for questions
and answers.
Tai Chi and Yoga
TAI CHI: Slow, gentle, flowing movements, connecting our breath with our movements, providing us
with a feeling of calm and relaxation, as well as helping to slow ourselves down. Can be done
standing, with a chair, or in a chair.
YOGA: A full body stretch and toning session, in a gentle, safe makes sense kind of way. Particular
attention to our bodys' alignment, space, and softness. Can be done standing, with a chair, or in a
chair.
Kim Langley is a contracted instructor at The Estuary Council of Seniors, Inc. and has been
teaching both Tai Chi and Yoga here at the senior center for several years. This class is an
introduction level class. You do not need prior experience to enjoy it.
Paint and Sip Night
Grab your favorite beverage and join us for a paint class hosted by The Drunken Palette. Art
supplies will be provided. The painting we will be doing is called Daylight Lighthouse. You can
find it in TDP’s online gallery under Nautical Themes.
Trivia Night
Trivia Night will be hosted online by Trivia Hub Live and you have the option of creating your own
team or being placed into a team at random.. Please note that, because this is all virtual, teams
do not have to all be in the same house. Prizes will be given out to the members of the top team.
Interactive Cooking Demonstration
This cooking demonstration with ECSI’s Aaron Pratt will show you how to make:
Pan Seared Scallops with lemon butter and herb oil, pepper crusted filet mignon with a pan sauce
reduction, wild mushroom risotto with parmesan, and roasted asparagus with blistered cherry
tomatoes.
This will be interactive so you will be able to ask questions as we go. You will have the option to
cook along with Aaron if you wish. Everyone who participates will be given the recipe in advance.
