March is National Nutrition Month and we encourage you to go on a flavor adventure!
March is National Nutrition Month!
National Nutrition Month is a nutrition education campaign created annually in March by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND). This annual campaign focuses attention on nutrition education and information to empower people to make informed food choices that lead to healthy eating and physical activity habits. This year, the Academy is encouraging everyone to “Celebrate a World of Flavors.”
Food brings us together to celebrate and is often the one thing that connects two people who would otherwise be strangers. Cultural diversity and ethnicity is an interesting topic. Let’s take this month to talk to our friends and neighbors about our food memories, traditions and recipes. What is the same, and what is different from then to now? What is the most unusual food that you remember your family always ate? Did you like it, or was it simply tradition?
You don’t have to leave town to go on an ethnic flavor adventure. Be bold and try something new the next time you eat out! Here are a few terms to help you choose healthy alternatives:
Chinese
Italian
Mexican
What adventure will your taste buds take you on this month? Let me know how plan to “Celebrate a World ofFlavors!”
