Join Us for a Luau on August 20th!

Are you ready for some Luau? We are pleased to announce that Our Luau is SOLD OUT! Thank you to everyone who made plans to join us for this fun evening at the Estuary Center. We are enjoying these evening dinners with you.

A luau is a Hawaiian tradition that features foods such as poi, pig, poke, salmon, and haupia. Our dinner will be a fun twist on this theme.

In ancient times Hawaiian men and women ate their meals separately. In 1819 King Kamehameha ended that tradition of separate eating and thus the first luau parties were born.

Some foods eaten at a traditional luau were squid, or chicken, or pig. Another dish is poi which is made from the roots of tara. Utensils were never present at a luau, the food was eaten by hand!

We are looking forward to our own Estuary version of a luau with good food and entertainment. We will also be having a lei making class prior to dinner.

In keeping with a Hawaiian theme, I would like to announce that we are offering Ukulele lessons here at the Estuary starting in October.  Please call the Estuary Center for details, dial extension 204 for Deb.

Aloha!   Stan, Executive Director
