A message from our Director wishing you all a safe and healthy holiday season and a brighter new year!
This year has been like no other that we have seen in recent times. The year started with the devastating wildfires in Australia and was followed by the COVID-19 VIRUS which changed our lives in so many ways.
We would like to send our thoughts and prayers to everyone that has been affected by this virus. I would also like to extend our gratitude to all frontline workers caring for our most vulnerable population in very trying circumstances. Thanks for doing all you do, and supporting so many.
During the year we have had to pause activity programs and replace them with online activities that would allow us to social distance and keep everyone safe and healthy. It was a task that is easier said than done. The Staff here at the Estuary Council with hard work and creativity brought you some diverse and interesting online programming.
Although it is not the same as in-person programming, we were a wonderful support for each other. As we like to say. ‘You are not alone” From the daily phone calls to clients from staff, to our ‘Grab & Go’ lunches, we continued to support our seniors with social interaction. I thank you all for you patience, courage, and strength during this time.
With all that is going on this year, the holidays can seem extremely stressful. Please keep your family and friends close to you this holiday season even if you can’t be there in person.
So let’s all say goodbye to 2020 and welcome in the new year!
My friends, the virus will fade, vaccines are on the horizon, and it won’t be long until we are once again enjoying the comfort of each other.
I wish you all a very safe and healthy holiday season.
Here’s to 2021!!
Stan
